"To fermo" is to create an internet persona, to lead a double life on the Internet. One can "do a fermo" or "pull a fermo" or "be fermoed," etc.
"P/CP members, meet the real Randy Fermo" was a thread in which "Randy Fermo" was "exposed" as someone who created a misleading internet persona that "he" used for over 18 months and well over 3,000 posts to forums at www.military.com. RandyFOhio successfully fooled dozens, if not hundreds, of mil.com forum members into thinking he was a wacky young Hawaiian. As of this writing, no one has revealed who "Randy Fermo" really is. . . .
Here we are several years later -- and Randy Fermo is a moderately successful documentary film maker.
