universal it is in the US, but in my family, that has its roots in
South Texas, a 'sharpshooter' by any other name would be called a
'drain spade'. It is used to trench and to cut roots of things that
are growing where you intend to plant something. It can also be
used very handily to cut through plumbing and buried utilities, if
they are not buried very deep, so it is wise to know where they are
buried."
