During a press conference in Iraq (Sunday, December 14, 2008), an Iraqi reporter (Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television) threw his shoes at President George W. Bush. Telegraph.co.uk: "Showing the soles of one's shoes is considered an insult in Arab culture. After the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in 2003, Iraqi people were filmed battering his fallen statue in Baghdad with their shoes."
