An imaginary east-west line which divides the county of Essex into two portions: North Essex and South Essex. This is to protect the inhabitants of North Essex from being tarred with the somewhat derogatory brush normally associated with "Essex" as a whole. Those in North Essex deserve better. Finchingfield, Littley Green, and Wendens Ambo are north of the Smallweed Line. Vange, Pitsea, Benfleet, and Canvey are most definitely south.
