canarble wagon - |
The Canarble Wagon rolls each Friday at 5 p.m. Central time. It also can be utilized on an as-needed basis.
Jim Johnson, keeper of the Wagon, explains the origin of the word "canarble": "When I was covering City Hall,
there was a reporter there who liked to have a few drinks before -- and occasionally during -- the press conferences.
When it came time to head out for after-work cocktails, he'd already be slurring his words,
and he'd loudly suggest that we all head out for a few 'canarbles.'
We didn't know what word he was actually trying to say, but we knew what he meant."
Submitted for Roe, Gary, and Jim at WLS 890 AM, Chicago.
