Shortened version of "critical hit." In the role playing game Dungeons & Dragons, an unadjusted roll of 20 on a 20-sided polyhedral die (a natural 20) is a critical hit, and does double max damage (usually). A player would say "Crit" on that roll.
When in the Real World, D&D players have been known to say this when an object causes maximum damage.
