A person, usually male, who is outwardly a conformist, but who underneath is artistic, flamboyant, emotional, and very affectionate. Most of the cryptofabulous are heterosexual, but there are some closeted gay men who would fit the term. Many "cryptofabs" live or work in a conservative setting. They are rarely pierced or tattooed, but they may have experimented with temporary body modification. Many of these men hide their cryptofabulosity behind a geeky hobby or profession. Few emo boys are cryptofabulous, because they have trouble hiding their emotions.
