austenlamaliciousdocious - to fall over a baby seal and then get hit in the head by a giraffe.

ED. Since you used your word as a verb, I have changed your definition accordingly. "The act of"
suggests a noun and your word "looks" like an adjective. But it's your  word. You used it as a verb, so
verb it is.

If you went to all this effort to get a friend's name in as part of a word. . . . Voila! You have succeeded. (By the way, I
used "Voila!" before I saw it in your blog entry related to your submittal.) Anyone who does this much work to get her word
entered in the PseudoDictionary a dictionary deserves to be rewarded. A blog with the same name, no less. I'm
impressed. . . . Hmmm, I would have been more favorably  impressed, of course, if you had gone to the trouble
only  for us and not for Urbandictionary first. Ah, well, such things happen.1

You're going to find quite a few entries that appear in both the PseudoDictionary and Urbandictionary. Neither site is
copying from the other, as a submitter calling herself "Christine Hsieh" once accused us of doing. You submitted your word to
both sites -- and that's what a lot of our submitters do. I've even submitted some of my own neologisms (too
high-falutin') word inventions to Urbandictionary.

When I heard that Aaron Peckham of Urbandictionary would be publishing a book in the fall of 2005, I wondered if some of the duplicated words would
appear in it. Apparently not, so Aaron must have gone out of his way to make sure that didn't happen. I checked when it came
out. As far as I could tell -- not an extensive check -- there were no duplicates with PseudoDictionary.

A second book seems to be in the works, to be published this fall. Aaron provides links on his website for you to
pre-order it before publication. You have your choice of shopping at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

I doubt that you need to be worried about Urbandictionary's rejecting your word.2 It's just
fine. Urbandictionary used to have no review process whatsoever. That's probably why it href="http://tinyurl.com/3xrtor">grew like Topsy . The folks
there must have had to cull through a million entries to come up with the words Aaron used in his first book. We lack
his patience.

Note: This bracketed comment will be invisibled after being up long enough to give you a chance to see it. If you want me to leave it up for a while because of all the attention it will draw to your word, let me know. I can leave it up until it drops out of the recent entries. You can find an e-mail address for me in the forum.

"Y'all come back now, hear?"

Lillith

1 While it's true that the Urbandictionary is much, much larger than the PseudoDictionary,
pseudodictionary.com was born nine months and six days earlier. Does that make the PseudoDictionary and Urbandictionary " href="http://tinyurl.com/2jgbuw">Irish twins? No, it doesn't. Their
lineages differ and their aims differ. Urbandictionary invites you to "Define your world"; PseudoDictionary invites you to
"Make us smile." (The Unword Dictionary says it is "Changing the English language one word at a time.")

2 A little Mrs. Grundy stuff: Check how gerunds are used to find out what the difference is
between saying "Urbandictionary's rejecting your word" and "Urbandictionary rejecting your word." Some fine distinctions in
our language may be lost if we don't pay attention to how we use words.

Their love of the English language (not their love of the English ) is why HD and Marty provide this site for
your edification and entertainment (theirs, too) . . . at no charge. The PseudoDictionary is the closest thing you're going
to get to a free lunch on the internet.
If HD can ever figure out how to do it and remain anonymous, he and Marty will even
give away cash and prizes for making them smile. HD tried to set up a PayPal account, but the technology must have been beyond
his grasp. He is  a geezer, you know.
