Refers to the actions of an air-breathing organism that has inhaled some amount of water. (Note: does not assume death.) (ED. Just to make sure we're clear on this: If you drown, you die. If you are electrocuted, you die. Somehow, the notion is out there that electrocution does not mean death. That's wrong -- to be electrocuted means to be killed by electricity. Anyone who says "I was electrocuted" probably means "I was shocked." Those who are electrocuted do not live to say, "I was electrocuted.")
