This pronunciation of the word "no" seems to be fairly common in New Zealand, and also is used in Australia. {ED. It's definitely not uncommon in the mid-western United States either -- the mid-western states being almost a thousand miles west of western Pennsylvania. I never could figure out why people living in Pittsburgh thought they lived in the Midwest. That part of the country hasn't been anywhere near the middle of the country for well over a hundred years.}
