(Rhymes with "Butch"; n.) a word for something in one language which is the same as the word for it in another, completely unrelated language. ["wooch" is Cakchiquel Mayan for both "face" and "fruit"; that is, how you tell one tree (or person (or langauge)) from another . . . I don't remember why my mind uses "wooch" for this notion, but it seems to fit.]
Примеры использования:
"Can you give me an example of a woodh?" "I think so. English, an Indo-European language, calls a pit in the ground a "hole"; Cakchiquel, which is a Mayan language, calls a hole a /hol/. There aren't very many of these -- and I've had to stretch a point to find some. As another example, the Japanese particle 'ni' means 'in' (just backwards). If you can think of others, send'em my way."
